It's our 30th!

This month marks Rosetone Event Furniture’s 30th anniversary, founded back in 1987 Rosetone are so proud of how far we have come! Feeling nostalgic, we decided to create a short video to take a look at what else happened in the year of 1987.

Get to know us:
Rosetone was first founded by Rosemary and Tony Goodley in 1987, this is where our name Rosetone originates from. Rosemary worked at the Lister Hospital and Tony worked in the French Polishing trade before they both decided they wanted to start their own business. Rosemary and Tony started out in a factory and office in Stevenage with 100 chairs and one van, working with their son David Goodley. They kept track of jobs on a notepad and Rosemary wrote out invoices by hand, offering a Respraying and Refurbishing furniture service and hiring chairs to the marquee trade.

(psst. It was here in the early 1990’s that Tony created the secret ‘Kentucky’ formula - a unique mix that we at Rosetone still use for spraying our gold and silver chairs to this very day)

Their whole-hearted, loveable and memorable personalities, along with their excellent business skills saw the business grow rapidly, moving to a bigger unit in Letchworth and taking on more and more staff including their grandson, Warren Goodley. This is also where our current factory manager, Richard Allder, started in 2002 at the age of 16.
In early 2007, Rosemary and Tony’s daughter Michelle Goodley joined the family business. In early 2008 Rosemary and Tony retired and Michelle’s partner Andy Wells and their beautiful dog Frankie joined the business. After 18 months of continued success and expansion of the business Michelle and Andy decided they again needed to move to a bigger property, and relocated to Units 2-3 Wren Park Business Centre in Shefford.
The following year saw significant expansion for Rosetone. Michelle and Andy started growing the Sales side of Rosetone’s business, sourcing products from all new suppliers in Europe, buying an extensive range of new stock, a new van and lorry, and re-launching the Rosetone website. In 2011 Warren left the business to travel the world. Andy’s son Jordan Wells, and Michelle’s daughter Averil Goodley (Rosemary and Tony’s granddaughter) then joined the family business. In 2012 Lewis Gentle joined the business, and Rosetone expanded further into Unit 1 on the business park, creating new offices, and opened up Units 2 and 3 to accommodate additional storage for stock.

Between 2013 and 2016 Rosetone has continually increased levels of stock, the number of staff and available space. Richard, Averil and Jordan moved into managerial positions. Richard is now factory manager; Averil is the Office, Admin and Hires Manager; and Jordan is the Transport Manager.
Rosetone are the only company in the UK to buy in our chairs RAW and finish them here in the UK, using dedicated, specialised staff. Selling both Asian and European chairs we like to keep up to date with what our customers want and need, whilst making sure we provide them with the best possible price and a truly personal service.
From humble beginnings with just 100 chairs, Rosetone has grown progressively and now holds stock of over 12,000 chairs and 400 tables, together with a vast array of other event furniture. We also own three vehicles, with another on its way. We occupy five buildings on the business park and employ thirteen dedicated staff members. We even have new equipment for our respray and refurbishing department on its way early 2017. These really are exciting times.
